![]() ![]() Bryce and Chad was a fantastic team-attentive but not hovering. It’s a must do if you come! Dinner at River House our second evening was amazing also and beautifully plated. Special shout out to Cassie for the morning nature walk and history of the area-we learned so much and she made it fun with her enthusiasm for her subject. Dinner was delicious at Octagon with suggestions and excellent service from Arielle. Cat checked us in and gave us a great overview of the property. He not only lugged the crazy heavy luggage but drove us right to our room. I would give more than 5 stars if I could!! Our experience began with a very warm welcome from Dino who greeted us like family (maybe even better). Montage has a great product in Palmetto Bluff, but the service isn’t up to par (pun intended). We liked the food at Fore & Aft (not the service) and enjoyed lunch at Canteen. Dinner at River House was excellent, and we loved Hush. The bike trails were awesome, and we enjoyed seeing the local wildlife. Some bright spots… The guys at the bike rental station were nice. Dirty dishes (with stinky cheese) were on the floor in the hallway for 9+ hours. Also, I requested ice and it took 45 minutes. Housekeeping was horrible for a number of reasons. Between not being staffed with enough employees and/or having indifferent employees, it was disappointing. Some employees were downright rude to us. Between this and the corporate events (with unruly guests), the staff seemed to have their hands full, with little time for regular guests like us. While we were there, some VERY top tier PGA golfers were staying at the hotel. The talk at the hotel was that the day before we arrived, there was a big wedding there and Obama and the Kardashians were in attendance. If you are on the fence about trying this property, DO IT - you will not be disappointed.… MPB is so close to Savannah Airport, and a super easy drive up to Charleston for a day or two on either end of your trip. I always think it's weird when people comment on employees at a hotel because it seems pretentious, but I would be remiss not to mention Richard (valet), Zulfira (front desk), and Firoze (rooms) who are all three so devoted and passionate about the property, it's contagious! They do not miss an opportunity to make guests feel welcome and spoiled. All dining options are outstanding, and housekeeping is impeccable (and I am very hard to please on that one.) The pool area is beautiful and has a great vibe, and our favorite on-property is electric bikes for miles and miles of safe and beautiful trails in and out of the residential area and golf course. The rooms are beautifully decorated and have every possible thoughtful detail and convenience, and we especially love the larger bathroom size. We loved it so much we came back two summers in a row! First, I should say that we live in coastal southern California, so we are lucky to have natural beauty on a daily basis, but there is something about the tranquility in this locale that draws us in. With all this in mind, let me say that price wise, this was probably the most expensive spa that I, personally, have ever been to. The spa’s exercise room has floor-to-ceiling windows which take maximum advantage of the breathtaking ocean vista as you pedal your bike or run in place. There are many treatments to choose from, ranging from herbal and hydrotherapy body treatments to fitness consultation and daily classes. The spa has a separate men’s and women’s facility, both offering eucalyptus steam rooms, dry rooms, outdoor jacuzzi’s and comfy waiting rooms with a fireplace and a light snack/drink bar. Of course I took the opportunity to experience the spa. My room had a private oceanfront balcony and a spectacular view of the Laguna Beach coastline where I took the opportunity to dine on several occasions during my stay. I can’t tell you how excited I was to see the marbled bathroom with it’s large soaking tub, readily equipped with candles and lavish bath amenities. ![]() ![]() ![]() The rooms are designed with comfort and elegance in mind, with dark wood furnishings, white crown moldings, shuttered doors, stylish light fixtures, soft sand color schemes, and authentic artwork by noted California artists. ![]()
